Sell My Home – Boxing Day Launch!

November 13th, 2022

When should you list your home for sale… Boxing Day or wait until January?

Rightmove stats show the day after Christmas, and the period between Christmas and New Year, are regularly the busiest days of the year for house hunters as web traffic soars by a whopping 70%.

So, if you are thinking about selling in 2023, let’s get your marketing campaign, including full walk-through video, done NOW before the decorations go up.

I will then LAUNCH your home onto the market on Boxing Day, collect all the viewing requests and speak to the buyers over the holiday period, and we start viewings for you from Tuesday 3rd January 2023.

This way you enjoy the festive period without being disturbed and hit the ground running in the New Year, placing you in POLE POSITION if you are buying on and your DREAM HOME then comes onto the market.

If you are already on the market and viewings have dried up, why not take your home off, have a break, I will get things ready for you and you can have a FRESH APPROACH with me?

Contact me today and let’s get started!

H.M. The Queen R.I.P. … Perceptions of a Veteran

September 20th, 2022

It has been a very emotional time for so many people across the United Kingdom.

It is especially so for current and past members of The British Armed Forces.

When we join the Armed Forces we swear allegiance to The Head of The British Armed Forces, and that is The Monarch. In my lifetime, this has always been HM The Queen R.I.P.

There is also a special connection with members of The Royal Family, as many of them take up the position of Colonel-in-Chief (C-in-C) of a variety of Corps and Regiments.

I joined The Royal Corps of Signals on 9th September 1980 and Her Royal Highness, Princess Anne as she was then (now H.R.H. The Princess Royal) was, and still is, our Colonel-in-Chief. Princess Anne visited us at The Army Apprentices College, Harrogate in 1982 and I still remember that occasion as a huge honour and with affection.

I transferred to The Intelligence Corps in 1992 and the late His Royal Highness, Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh was our Colonel-in-Chief for over 40 years until his death on 9th April 2021. Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal has now become our Colonel-in-Chief.

I attended a couple of visits from C-in-C The Duke of Edinburgh at The Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess, Intelligence Corps Depot in Ashford, Kent and also a number of years later at The Priory Officers’ Mess at Chicksands in Bedfordshire.

I retired from The British Army in 2004 after 24-years service.

It is hard to explain the deep connection current and past members of The British Armed Forces have with HM The Queen and our Colonels-in-Chief, the role they play and the love and respect we have with them as part of our service.

It is no doubt similar to the feelings those who have lined the streets all the way from Balmoral Castle, from Aberdeenshire, to Edinburgh, on The Royal Mile and St Giles’ Cathedral for The Lying at Rest and now in London for the amazing 12-14 hours of queuing to visit Westminster Hall and The Lying in State.

Suffice to say it has been a very emotional time and has reaffirmed the place of The Royal Family in the hearts and minds of so many people across the nation, as well as within that of British Armed Forces personnel, past and present.

I believe the main connection between us all comes down to that one word – service. It is particularly poignant when The Queen signed Her name with the words, Your Servant

It is a reminder to us all perhaps that we gain more as individuals in a variety of ways when we offer a life of service to others, in whatever capacity we now find ourselves within.

R.I.P. Your Majesty!

Moving Home Is Not Easy!

September 20th, 2022

A few words about my sellers and buyers in this chain!

Tenacity, persistence, patience, belief!

Downsberry Road came onto the market with me as their second agent on 22nd January 2022, their previous sale unfortunately having fallen through.

Sold stc on 7th February – 225 days ago!

I introduced the seller of Downsberry Way to Richborough Way prior to full marketing, as it was the property they had described to me at my original listing appointment when answering my 4-questions: Why? When? What? Where?

That sale was agreed on 16th February – 216 days ago!

The lack of stock at the time and the issues so many are having throughout sales progression these days meant the buyers and sellers throughout the whole chain really have been put ‘through the mill’ to be able to move on with their lives.

We got there! The chain exchanged contracts on 12th September, completing later this week.

A huge thank-you to my First Time Buyers Holly and Matthew, who stuck with it through thick and thin and are soon moving into their first DREAM HOME. Also, to both of my sellers, one of whom also became my buyer for their onwards purchase…thank-you for keeping the faith in the process and in me.

Thanks also to the mortgage and protection team at Charles Mac Mortgage Brokers in Ashford, in particular Elaine Cook, CeMAP and Amanda Heraty (Manda) and also to the Connells Sales Progressor Tracey Keithson, all of whom played significant roles in the overall chain exchanging and without their help and co-operation, no-one would have moved.

My local conveyancing superstars, Gordon Drawbridge of Independent Property Lawyers and Kacy Ford of Bucksford Law, just make is so easy on my sales – I wish all throughout my chains used them! Life would be SO much easier!

Moving home is not an effortless process. It is stressful at the best of times but feedback, communication, honesty, transparency and trust, when added to tenacity, persistence, patience and belief mean it can happen – I just hope it gets a little easier moving forward (please)!

If you would like to discover the true benefits of having your own personal, business-owning estate agent help you sell and move, one who also has these above-mentioned attributes you will need to help you on your moving journey, please get in touch.

I would love to help you move forward with your lives!

Mother’s Day Gift Competition…

March 27th, 2022

…and the winner is…?

Delighted to have given Jean in Willesborough, Ashford, Kent the Mother’s Day Gifts I offered for my Mother’s Day Offer.

People commented on what made their mum special and I chose the one that struck me the most – it was sooo hard though as so many lovely comments were posted across a number of social media platforms.

Sharon made a lovely comment about her mum and it was a real pleasure meeting Jean yesterday and handing over the gifts.

Here is what Jean’s daughter Sharon posted as my chosen winning comment:

#specialmum my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and had to have a mastectomy. Through everything she has remained dignified & strong and still worries about everyone else before herself. She is an inspiration, my everything and my rock x

On winning and mum Jean having been given her gifts, Sharon kindly posted:

I would like to say a massive thank you to John for organising the special mum competition. Yesterday [Saturday 26th March 2022] he delivered the most beautiful bouquet of flowers, box of chocolates and a bottle of Prosecco to my very surprised mum who was the lucky winner!

Happy Mother’s Day to everyone!
